Paradise Reef & Paradise Shallows
Depth: 20'- 50'
Skill Level: Novice to Advanced
A series of separate reefs, Paradise Reef and Paradise Shallows are excellent beach dives day and night. It’s also great for snorkeling. The local dive shops use this area as staging for certification dives but despite it’s popularity, this area continues to develop beautiful coral and supports an abundance of marine life.
You’ll see Crabs, Lobster, Octopus, Spotted Morays and the allusive Splendid Toad Fish reported to live only in the corals of Cozumel. Paradise Reef is actually a series of three separate reefs running parallel to the shore about 200 meters from the beach.
During the annual Coral spawning nights this area is host to Scientist, Photographers, and curious divers looking for that once in a lifetime sighting. The Coral spawning happens only at night and is a must see. Don’t be shy about diving at night. Night dives should be a part of all divers dive log and will remind you why you got into diving in the first place!
