Snorkeling is great fun! When I'm not diving I'm usually in the water snorkeling. If you happen to be staying at a location that has great snorkeling near by then you will have the best of both worlds. Many divers and non-divers alike enjoy snorkeling.
Snorkeling is easy and affordable. Snorkeling requires a minimum investment in basic gear which would be mask, snorkel, and fins. Some, that may not be as comfortable in the water, may want to use a snorkeling vest or wetsuit. Both will provide additional floatation.
Snorkelers' backs, ankles, and rear of their thighs can be exposed to the sun for extended periods and can burn badly, even if slightly submerged, without being noticed in time. The wearing of appropriat clothing as a rash guard with SPF, a T-shirt, a wetsuit, or "waterproof" sunblock will mitigate this risk. Try to use an eco-friendly sunblock. Sunblock and harm marine life such as coral reefs.
